Rolling Proud SCHOLARSHIP Criteria
Purpose:
The Rolling Proud Scholarship is designed to support students from historically underrepresented communities who have demonstrated academic potential, community involvement, and resilience despite challenges faced in their underserved environments. This scholarship aims to provide financial assistance and open doors for higher education opportunities for minority students in communities with limited access to resources.
Eligibility Criteria:
Demographic Criteria:
Applicants must identify as part of a minority group (including, but not limited to, Black, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous, Asian, Pacific Islander, and multiracial students).
Must be a resident of a historically underserved community or low-income area.
Must be a senior student enrolled at Middleton High School
Academic Criteria:
Minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
Currently enrolled in or applying to an accredited U.S. institution of higher learning (including colleges, universities, trade schools, and technical institutions).
Must be a high school senior, a current undergraduate student, or a student returning to school after a gap.
Financial Need:
Applicants must demonstrate financial need, typically by submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or an equivalent financial document.
Preference given to applicants who demonstrate financial hardship or who come from households with an income at or below the poverty line.
Community Impact:
Applicants must have a history of involvement in their community, whether through volunteer work, advocacy, leadership, or other forms of service.
A strong essay or personal statement outlining how the applicant has contributed to their community and how the scholarship will help them continue their education and service.
Personal Resilience:
The applicant must show a demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles, whether personal, financial, or social, and describe how these experiences have shaped their goals and aspirations.

Provide a copy of the most recent transcript from your current or most recent school.Proof of Enrollment or Acceptance:
A letter of acceptance at an accredited institution for the upcoming academic year.Personal Statement (Essay):
Write a 500-750 word essay that answers the following questions:How have your experiences in your community shaped who you are today?
What challenges have you faced growing up in an underserved community, and how have you overcome them?
How will this scholarship help you achieve your academic and career goals?
What is your vision for giving back to your community in the future?
Letter of Recommendation:
TWO letters of recommendation from a teacher, community leader, or mentor who is familiar with your academic performance and community involvement.

Deadline: February 20th, 2025
Notification of Award: March 4th , 2025
Selection Process:
Review of Application Materials:
All applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Committee. The committee will assess academic achievement, financial need, community service, personal resilience, and the quality of the personal statement.Final Decision:
The Scholarship Committee will select awardees based on the overall merit of their application, commitment to community, and demonstrated need.
